“I engaged Shane’s Trees to remove dead limbs from the gum trees in the backyard as I was concerned about them falling causing potential injury or damage. The team arrived promptly at the time stated and proceeded to review the trees. They set up their equipment and started work and continued through to the finish in a very efficient and safe manner. When I spoke with the arborist before he left I felt confident about the work done and the trees. Well done all.”

“I had a palm tree that we discovered was rotting out and looked on a lean. I rang Shane’s Trees on Monday morning and someone came out to inspect and quote that afternoon. I then also received a phone call later that afternoon booking me in for the next day. They came on time, removed the palm and left everything tidy. Very happy with the service and would definately recommend.”
-Leesa. S
“Great job done by Shane’s tree service. Cleaned up the numerous dead and broken branches to this not well tree to hopefully give it a better chance of surviving as well as advising to keep this dead branch for birds or wildlife to take up as residence in the decayed hollows. Love this kind of consideration to our wildlife. Thanks guys!”

One of our friendly team members will get back to you before you can say ‘timber’!

Some factors that might affect your quote…

The size of your tree. Generally, the bigger it is, the longer it takes to remove – and the more space vegetation takes up in our trucks!

Ease of access. Trees around properties with steep embankments are often difficult to load onto vehicles.

Equipment needed. Certain projects require the use of barges, cranes and even helicopters which may be reflected in your quote.

There are a number of factors that affect the cost of pruning and removing trees. Check out our answer video where we outline the basis of how costs are calculated. Once you’ve taken a look, load up our tree removal prices page and use the tree removal calculator to get a rough idea of how much your project will cost. Our team work right across Ipswich Council region and the entire Brisbane Metropolitan area.

You bet it is – all of our quotes are complimentary with no obligation. Free, friendly quotes and advice all the time

Truth is, there are many factors that go into quoting a tree job. And, a lot of the time, less experienced companies will leave things out, try to change the price mid-job or cut corners on safety. Underinsured or underqualified tree loppers can quote cheaper but if anything were to go wrong – you’d bear the cost. We make sure you’re aware of every cost upfront so there are no nasty surprises along the way.

Yes of course, we’re comprehensively insured (so you can sleep easy at night). We hold $50m public liability insurance (more than double of most of our competitors), workers comp insurance and professional indemnity insurance – with all of our vehicles and machinery covered, too!

As with most local councils, you are able to remove some trees without prior approval as long as they meet certain conditions

You can remove trees on private land if it falls into this criteria

    1. The tree is located within 10m of a dwelling
    2. The tree is located within 3m of a property boundary where it would be reasonably necessary to construct a fire break
    3. The tree is dead

Should any of these trees be protected by development approval, covenant, vegetation protection order, or TPO, then you could not remove the same trees under the conditions described above.

To make an application you will need to speak directly with Ipswich City Council directly

You can find more information about local law No.49 vegetation management policy here.

Absolutely – we’re owned and directed by a second-generation arborist! We care about quality output – so we put arborists through apprenticeships and now employ 25 qualified and experienced staff members.

Okay, we LOVE talking about this… Generally, a qualified arborist has 3 years of industry experience, a minimum cert 3 in arboriculture and has worked extensively with other qualified arborists to understand the risks involved in safely pruning and removing trees. Learning how to conduct this career safely is an art form – and arborists need to know how to keep themselves and their clients safe without causing increased tree risks. On the other hand, the risk is higher when working with an unqualified arborist (or tree lopper), as they are often self-taught and underinsured.

Yep – from time to time we give away free mulch. We have a yard at Kirrawee and can fill up trailers for you if required.

We can take away stump grindings, yes. Generally (unless mentioned on the quote) stump grindings remain to fill the hole as they’ll subside over time and provide an efficient way to reduce trip hazards from the remaining depression.

You must get permission from your neighbour and council (if it’s a protected tree) to cut down the tree. It is not uncommon for our clients to be the neighbour, and not the tree owner – just be sure to seek approval first!

Contact Ipswich City Council in the first instance. If they’re unable to assist you, seek advice from a Certificate 5 (Cert 5) arborist. In some instances you may have a case in the land and environment court.

If your tree has been heavily impacted by a storm and is an imminent danger as assessed by a qualified arborist – it can be removed without council approval. The best action (like always!) is to seek the opinion of a qualified arborist through a site inspection.
